ABSOLUT MACHINE

I was walking down the street the other day and saw some 'Absolut' branding on a previously derelict storefront. I like vodka so I went inside and found this, without much explanation:

No vodka in sight, but the magical mystery self-playing instrument was kind of fascinating.

COKEOKEEDOKE

Is this even real?! What?

BANTUMS

Whilst I was at secondary school my Dad was friends with my geography teacher who owned some Bantums.

This meant we'd always have real dope yolkey eggs, au natural. Unfortunately moving to London really means you're fresh farm produce is limited. I've recently been buying these eggs though which are dope, and come in almost enough colours so you can coordinate with your trainers! Plus, the stamp is fresh!

HOLD TIGHT

We went to the Montana Gold office the other day and got a nice big bag. Hold tight.

BORED

The link between streetwear and skate culture has always been there, through stussy's beginnings as a surf company, to supreme's continual support of the local scene without the need for a real team, to 10 Deeps arrival on the scene.
Looks like Rogue Status and well and truly on the bandwagon with this collaboration with Alien Workshop (Wherever they went for the last however many light years!?) and Rob Dyrdek.

Photobucket
But it doesn't stop there, they're also dipping their plump little fingers in lots of other pies such as this collaboration with Arbor snowboards. (Thanks to ourpoopscoop.com for the heads up.)

Here's a few more ones which caught my eye whilst at 5050 skateboard supplies in Bristol.

DAM RECENT

I only discovered this podcast recently, it's a little Gem. Mad Decent- Diplo, with everything from French/African mixes to niche "Bassline" (It's actually just old 90's Garage with a more public friendly name, which means it's cool for white suburban kids and yuppies to dance to it in a club now Remember, you're not selling the steak, you're selling the sizzle!)

Search for mad decent podcasts on i-tunes, or just copy and paste the address below into your navigation bar for the niche mix.

AIR FORCE 1 "DYING TO LIVE"

A little job I promised someone when intoxicated. I broke both rules I'd set myself of not working for free, and not customising worn trainers! Oh well, for the love.
As for the headlines I'm not really sure, maybe I was pumpin' too much Biggie Smalls!!!

I just googled it. Apparently it's a Tupac lyric. Definately couldn't explain that one! Straight Biggie!

BIG L EBONICS

For all you who were still wondering...
"Yo, pay attention and listen real closely how I break this slang shit down............. A CON IS AN OKEE DOKE...."

"""STREET ART"""

Some more stuff from East London. Saw the guy putting up the faces one night. Looked pretty legit, he had a full scaffold tower up but was still working under the cover of darkness!

DEEP!

You heard the news about the 10 Deep skate team. Here's the promo.

DON'T YOU KNOW THAT YOU'RE......

IF YOU DON'T ALREADY KNOW....

Photobucket
.....stonesthrow do some sick podcasts, if you haven't already subscribed you need to get on that like white on rice. The most recent one is rememberance to J Dilla. Some truly dope soundtracks if you need something fresh to work/rest/play to.

MIGHTIER THAN THE SWORD?

Finding a good pen can be as hard as finding those vintage Jordan 5's you always wanted as a kid, or that dusty original press of your favourite record. These were from Brussels and Sweden respectively and have that really good thick permanent glossy finish.
Photobucket
The closest thing you can get to these in England is the Edding paint pens which are dope as hell but have not yet been released with a nib wide enough for anything practical. Keep a lookout though as they've already been specially manufacturing them for Monorex to use in Secret Wars. They're looking tough and will be sure to be on the backend of a lot of damage in 2008.
Some of my favourite pens as a kid were Permopaque, permanent yet opaque in a variety of good colours. The only drawback was that they didn't have a nib you could pump. Think they've dropped out of the market now anyway. Shame.

PROTECT YA NECK

Street artists don't get the same credit as graffiti artists for the feat of pulling off a work of art on the street, quite simply because they do all of the hard graft in the safety of their homes with a cup of PG tips. To combat this they tend to use humour. Ha!

LIPZ TO DA FLOOR

A while back one of my housemates kindly removed the front wheel nut from my skateboard without telling me. Needless to say I didn't realise until I was cruising down to the shops to get milk for my morning cuppa. The shock of suddenly being thrown off my skateboard seemed to wake me up a lot more quickly, albeit in a more dramatic manner.
I think recently I'd been forgetting how much we take our floor for granted, and found loads of these photos I'd taken the other week of dope stuff we constantly walk past without stopping to have a look.
Benjitos recently left old Blighty for the warmer climates of South America, so we had a big farewell for him at his uncles house in Hackney (Bang in the middle of murder mile ya getz meh!)
Anyway, I think that night might've been where it started. This old victorian place had dope tiled floors......

The following weekend I was out mooching around East and realised I'd never got photos of all the floor graffiti which has recently been popping up down those ways. Although these photos show a wide variety of names popping up, the first guy around there who began putting it up was Asure ATG. Bumps.......

If you wanna go see more of these have a walk from mile end, down Roman road and Bethnal Green road. Shoreditch, Brick Lane and Spitalfields also have a fair spattering.

Then finally drains, again from the East. Imagine if every one was different, or if artists were comissioned to design a series of drain covers. Too sick.....
